On July 4, 2024, Idaho Falls celebrated the nation’s birthday with the 31st Annual Melaleuca Freedom Celebration, the largest fireworks show west of the Mississippi River. This year’s show featured more than 18,500 fireworks, launched from a dedicated amphitheater on the banks of the Snake River.
On July 2, Nate Eaton from East Idaho News sat down with Melaleuca Executive Chairman Frank VanderSloot at Melaleuca Global Headquarters to discuss the fireworks and how the entire show honors our nation’s heroes, including our Founding Fathers and our veterans and service members.
“This is an awesome show,” said Frank, “and it’s a tribute to the men and women who gave us our freedom.”
Frank gave kudos to local law enforcement for their ability to maintain post-show traffic. Despite the fact that the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration regularly draws crowds of more than 200,000 people, the police manage to get everyone to their destinations in a timely manner.
