With more than 18,500 fireworks flying into the night sky on July 4, the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration was again a successful tribute to our country’s heroes, including our Founding Fathers, our veterans and service members, and their families. The event attracts more than 200,000 spectators each year, and this year was no exception. The spectators filled Snake River Landing, where the fireworks were launched, as well as bridges, parking lots, and parks all around the Idaho Falls area.
Local news station East Idaho News published its own photo gallery highlighting many of the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration’s best moments. This story also featured a seven-minute compilation video. In its entirety, the fireworks display was a full 31 minutes long. The fireworks were launched from an amphitheater along the Snake River, one of the only spaces in the country specifically dedicated to launching fireworks.
The Post Register, a local Idaho Falls news publication, also published a photo gallery of the fireworks. Every year, Post Register readers vote for the best businesses, events, and so forth in various categories—known as the Readers’ Choice Awards. For 2024, the Melaleuca Freedom Celebration was voted Best Local Event, marking the sixth year in a row that the largest fireworks show west of the Mississippi has won the award.
